Announcement posts let you share quick updates with your team — like a schedule change or a new lost and found — without asking for a response.
You'll see exactly who has read your Announcement, and your team can react with emojis and comment, if enabled.
How to create an Announcement post
1. Create Post
Start a new Announcement from web or the NetGym app:
Web: Navigate to Posts → + New Post → select Announcement.
NetGym app: Tap Posts in the bottom navigation bar → tap the + icon → select Announcement.
2. Add the Announcement Details
Add a header image (optional) — upload your own, or search for a stock image or GIF. Use the edit and remove icons in the top-right corner of the image to swap or delete it.
Enter a title and body. The body supports formatting, links, and images.
Add an attachment (optional).
3. Configure Post Settings
Setting | Default | What it does |
Expiration date | None (optional) | Moves the Announcement to Expired after this date. |
Require app pop-up | Off | Shows the Announcement as a pop-up when staff open the NetGym app. |
Allow comments | Off | Lets your audience comment on the Announcement. |
Allow emojis | On | Lets your audience react with emojis. |
Comments are off by default. Turning them off only blocks your audience — Managers and above can still comment, so you can follow up or tag @unread at any time.
4. Choose your audience
Select your Target Audience by filtering on Regions, Locations, Teams, Skills, and/or Roles.
If your account uses regions — or has more than 10 locations — locations appear as a dropdown so you can select an entire region at once.
If your account doesn't use teams, the Teams filter won't appear.
Use Search audience to find specific people, and Select all or Deselect all to adjust the list quickly.
To remove an individual, click the X next to their name.
To send an Announcement to everyone, keep the audience set to All Locations and All Teams.
5. Review and send
Review your Announcement, then click Post. Need to fix something? Click the pencil icon to jump straight back to the details step — no need to click back through each step.
How to manage an Announcement after it's sent
Announcement Filters
Front the left panel, click Announcements. Then, in the center panel, click the filter icon to access filter options:
Sort by — Created date or Due date (if an Announcement has one)
Show unread — toggle on to only display unread messages
Date sent — set a date range to display Announcements sent within this timeframe
Filter by sender — filter by sender (defaults to All Senders)
Include posts not sent to me — toggle on to view Announcements that weren't set to you in the audience field (defaults to off)
Post Management
Click any Announcement to open it in the right panel. Use the Post / Analytics toggle to switch between the full post and its read tracking:
Sent — reached via your audience
Unread — delivered but not viewed
Read — opened and viewed
From the icons at the top right, you can:
Set notification preferences (bell icon) — get notified of all activity or only when you're tagged.
Edit the content (pencil icon) — then choose to notify your audience of the update or save without notifying.
Edit settings and audience (gear icon) — only newly added people are notified. If you'd like to include staff after the initial send, add them via Audience.
Archive (folder icon) — removes it from your inbox view without deleting it.
Delete (trash can icon) — permanently removes the Announcement after you confirm.
Copy the post link (share icon)
Deleting can't be undone. If you only want an Announcement out of your view, archive it instead.
