Permanent Class Opening posts let you gauge instructor interest in a new class or block of classes — and fill it from the instructors who say yes.
Instructors respond with Accept, Maybe, or Decline, and you approve the instructor you want right from the post.
How to create a Permanent Class Opening post
1. Create Post
Start a new Class Opening from web or the NetGym app:
Web: Navigate to Posts → + New Post → select Permanent Class Opening.
NetGym app: Tap Posts in the bottom navigation bar → tap the + icon → select Permanent Class Opening.
2. Add the Class or Block Details
First, choose whether you're offering a single class or a block of classes (a grouped slot of classes on the schedule). Single class is selected by default.
Single class | Block of classes |
Class name | Block name (optional) |
Start and end time | Block starts and Block ends |
For either option, also add the location, start date, recurring days, a body, and any attachments. You can also add a header image (optional).
3. Configure Post Settings
Setting | Default | What it does |
Require app pop-up | Off | Shows the post as a pop-up when instructors open the NetGym app. |
Allow comments | Off | Lets your audience comment on the post. |
Allow emojis | On | Lets your audience react with emojis. |
4. Choose your audience
Select your Target Audience by filtering on Regions, Locations, Teams, Skills, and/or Roles. Filtering by Skills is a quick way to reach only instructors qualified to teach the class.
If your account uses regions — or has more than 10 locations — locations appear as a dropdown so you can select an entire region at once.
If your account doesn't use teams, the Teams filter won't appear.
Use Search audience to find specific people, and Select all or Deselect all to adjust the list quickly.
To remove an individual, click the X next to their name.
5. Review and send
Review your post, then click Post. Need to fix something? Click the pencil icon to jump straight back to the details step — no need to click back through each step.
How to filter and download Class Opening posts
Class Opening Filters
Front the left panel, click Class Openings. In the center panel, each opening shows its location, and a chip shows how many instructors have accepted — so you can see which openings have interest without clicking into each one.
Click the filter icon to access filter options:
Sort by — order the list by Created date or Due date.
Show unread — show only posts you haven't read.
Pending action — show only openings you haven't responded to yet with Accept, Maybe, or Decline.
Status — show posts that are Open, Pending approval, Approved, or Cancelled
Date sent — set a date range to display Announcements sent within this timeframe
Locations — show only openings at specific locations. Use the search bar in the dropdown to find a location quickly.
Sender (Managers and above) — show only posts sent by specific people.
Posts not sent to me (Managers and above) — include posts sent at your location(s) even if you weren't in the audience.
Day of week — show only openings on specific days.
CSV Download
From the center panel, click the download icon (next to the filter icon) to export to CSV. The file displays the opening information, including the status and responses.
How to approve an instructor for a class opening
From the Accepted list
Click the post to open it in the right panel. Under the Accepted list, click Approve on the chosen instructor.
Assigning without instructor acceptance
If you'd like to assign an instructor, despite them not having accepted the class opening, you can click Approve an instructor and choose anyone from your audience list
Changed your mind? Click Undo to reopen the opening to everyone.
Approving in NetGym doesn't update your schedule. You still need to manually assign the approved instructor to the class in your booking software.
How to manage a Class Opening after it's sent
Use the Post / Analytics toggle to see who the post was sent to, who has read it, and each instructor's response.
From the icons at the top right, you can also:
Set notification preferences (bell icon) — get notified of all activity or only when you're tagged.
Edit the content (pencil icon) — then choose to notify your audience of the update or save without notifying.
Edit settings and audience (gear icon) — only newly added people are notified.
Cancel the class opening (restricted icon) — marks it as unavailable. You can reopen it later.
Archive (folder icon) — removes it from your inbox view without deleting it.
Delete (trash can icon) — permanently removes the post after you confirm.
Copy the post link (share icon)
