Teams

Learn how to create and manage Teams in NetGym to organize staff into groups to filter, assign, and communicate more effectively.

Written by Lindsay Thomason

Overview

Teams is a new way to group users by function—like Front Desk, Instructors, or Sales—making it easier to manage staff, streamline communication, and support complex studio structures.

This feature adds a flexible layer of organization beyond roles and skills, giving managers powerful tools to filter, assign, and communicate more effectively.

Common Use Cases

  • Targeted Communication: Filter announcement posts by team (e.g., only notify Front Desk at Richmond).

  • Simplified Resource Management: Assign resources to a specific team, like all Instructors.

  • Multi-Team Membership: Add users to more than one team when they serve multiple functions (e.g., a coach who also works reception).

Setting up Teams

  • Under Settings, navigate to the new Teams tab

  • Click "add team" and give your team a clear name and the roles that can be added to this team

    • Note: team names must be unique

Adding Users to Teams

  • Navigate to a user under Settings > Users > Edit

  • In the Assignments section, select one or more team for a user

  • Click "update user" to save the team assignment

Utilizing Teams Across NetGym

  • Posts: Filter by team when sending announcements or updates, so only relevant staff are notified.

  • Channels: Display only the necessary communication channels based on a user’s team membership.

  • Resources: Share relevant content to specific teams.

  • Directory: View which team(s) staff is on and filter by one to many teams

    • Users can also see which team they're assigned to in My Profile

  • Future Features: As more tools (like shift scheduling) integrate with Teams, expect even more control and automation.

✨ Teams can be combined with locations and skills when creating audiences to enable management to create flexible and specific segments

Coming soon! You'll soon be able to limit NetGym to teams that only YOU manage! Making it easier to view, manage, and receive notifications that are most relevant to you.
